And she is One WHOLE Year Old! I cannot even wrap my head around it. It really feels like yesterday Joshua and I brought her home from the hospital. We weren't sure at first how adding a new baby would change our family dynamic. It didn't take long to witness how much she has added to our family though.
She is a good playmate for Caleb and has made him into a caring big brother. Just the other day he guarded her at the play area in the mall. He'd kiss her head and hug her as she stood supported on the play structures. When another child would get too close to Emmie, Caleb would put himself between her and the other kid and push them back. (I don't support the pushing- but it was a little cute) She has brought out my inner girl. I love snuggling her on my lap and playing at the play kitchen with her. And she has had cute tender moments that only a little girl could share with her daddy.
At one, she is standing unsupported for moments at a time. She can also walk assisted with either a toy, our hands, or even a table chair as we have witnessed. She doesn't seem like she is in a hurry to walk though. She is a very fast crawler. She feeds herself and sips from a cup. Her favorite foods are yogurt, crackers, and fruits. She definitely has a sweet tooth. She claps her hands, bounces in my lap, and tries to make me suck on her pacifier. She growls. She says, "uh-oh" whenever anything falls. She tries to say, "Uh-oh Spaghetti-Os", but it sounds like, "Uh-oh, Sgeh-oh". She also says "Kay" for Caleb, "No, No, No" when I tell her no, and now "mum-mum-mum" when she wants me or chases after me. Her favorite toys are her Farmer Buddy, her brother's Hot Wheels, her bounce Zebra, her kitchen and food, and any stuffed animal.
She puts everything and anything in her mouth- even more so than Caleb. She gets angry when I take something out of her mouth or from her. Most times she'll see me coming in for it and will crawl away from as fast as she possibly can while screeching with laughter. If I succeed in taking it from her, she screams, kicks her feet, and pushes me away. I can't help but smile at her frustration because it is a wonder to see the individual that she is becoming.
She wears 18 month clothes and is tall. Which I am so happy for. Her eyes are a deep brown like her father, but big like my own. Her hair is light blond with hints of strawberry. She has perfect rosy fair skin that I would love to have too. She has long, thin fingers that remind me of a musician.
I love every inch of her. I love her every laugh and every cry. I am so lucky to have her- it may be her birthday, but I was given the greatest gift of all.
