A New Name

So I finally took the time to rethink our blog title. The first was made in haste, just after we brought Emmaline home from the hospital and I wanted to post her first pictures for family to see. I didn't have the mental capacity to pick a title that reflects something fundamental to Joshus and I's belief on our family.

So I chose to name it after Caleb- our little monkey, and the Chipmunk- since Emmaline was born with the biggest and cutest cheeks we had ever seen. But now as we watch our children grow and blossom into unique personalities, our nicknames for them evolve. Caleb is still a monkey, but also "polk-a-roo". Polk-a-roo was a character on the 80's show "The Polka Dot Door", and my mom called my brother that. She started to Caleb the same and it has stuck.

We rarely refer to Emmie as "Chipmunk" anymore. She's usually "baby monster", "kitty cat", or "pampered princess". Monster because she growls. Kitty cat because she tries to play with cords, crinkly shopping bags, and my ribbon. Pampered princess well anyone who has a girl needs no explanation for that.

So the new name is what I believe. We are four individuals who will always be growing and changing. But in the end, we will always be a family. Our children will always be our focus. Our family is the focus that makes life hectic, fun, meaningful, and fulfilling.
