It has been a while since my last post, I know. You would think that as a stay-at-home mom I'd have all of the time in world, but to be honest there is never enough hours in a day! So an update on what is going on here in Toledo...
Caleb is taking gymnastics classes for toddlers. He has a ton of fun! There is a trampoline and all sorts of pint size gym equipment, including a balance beam that he loves. After class, daddy can throw him into the pit of foam blocks by the vault. I think that's his favorite part of the class. I will post pictures after Tuesday's class.
Caleb finally got "his new car". After 2 months of test drives and discussion, we got a Chrysler Town&Country. Yes, I got a mom-mobile. I had to give my Mercury Milan to Josh. On one hand I love the room and convienance of the van, but on the other I miss my leather seats and fancy options in the Mercury- the car of my pre-mom days! But Caleb loves the van and will point at it from the living room window and say "mine car".
Emmaline started to roll from her tummy to her back 3 weeks ago. The pediatrician didn't believe that she was rolling at 2 months, so I had to have Emma demonstrate! She is getting so big so fast. She is 23 inches and 13 pounds already. She is also smiling and cooing. She sleeps through the night, about 8 hours in fact. In so many ways she is easier than Caleb, but she has a much differant disposition. She is not as laid back as Caleb was. She needs to be with me much more than Caleb ever did. I could put Caleb down on his baby gym to do a chore, but Emma will scream and scream. So she spends a lot of time with me in the baby carrier.
Finally, we celebrated Caleb's upcoming 2nd birthday with family and friends yesterday. Josh will have hospital clinicals on Saturdays this semester, so we had to have his party a little early. We decided to have it at The Rainforest Cafe in Auburn Hills, since we love that place. Since the restaurant is a jungle themed attraction, I decided to make a coordinating birthday cake. I have never made a 2-tiered cake before, so I was a little worried. It took me all day long, and a lot more batter and butter cream than I thought I'd have to use, but I was pleased with the results. Especially since I never used icing tips before. The top layer was lemon with leomon curd filling, and the bottom was chocolate with strawberry filling. The cake ended up huge, even for 18 people, so my brother cut enough cake for the entire staff of the restaurant too.
